As a part of black history month, we have learned about moments and people in black history that have changed the world. We read about a different person or event each day and discuss it as a class. We will continue this throughout the rest of the month as well as engage in other activities with our buddies, like read-alouds.
Next week in literacy... -Small group work with me, reading decodables aligned with our UFLI lessons -Long and short vowel practice -Daily Lexia Core 5 usage Next week in word study... -Daily Heggerty lesson where we focus on rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, blending and segmenting one syllable words, manipulating words by adding, deleting or substituting sounds to make a new word -UFLI Lesson 30 and 31 that focuses on y /y/ and x /ks/ Next week in math... -The Subtraction Symbol (-) -Disappearing train (similar to growing train, but with subtraction) -Attribute Spinner Game (students use spinners to select an attribute block that has those attributes they spun) -Number Scrolls: practice writing numbers 0-100, and beyond Next week in writing... Students have been doing awesome with letter writing. Students learned about the different parts of a letter, like the greeting, closing, date, body of the letter, etc. Students will write letters throughout the week and soon bring some home to share. Please encourage them to continue this at home, as we talked about how we can make thank you letters, birthday letters, feel better letters and more. At the end of the week, we will learn about dental health and make a list of how we can keep our teeth and mouth clean and healthy. Next week in social studies... We will continue our unit, "How do I get what I need and want?" by learning about our needs vs. our wants. We will also begin thinking about ways we can get our needs and wants. Until next week, Ms. Fata :)
