Next week in literacy...
-Learning more about words that end in -an and completing different activities with -an words ("Whiny a" as we call it in UFLI!) -Building our independent reading stamina -Small reading groups at teacher table -In December, we read different Gingerbread stories and use them to learn about story elements. We will begin learning about the characters and setting in the stories. We will then learn about problems and solutions in books. -Heart words: to, do, of Next week in word study... -Daily Heggerty lesson where we focus on rhyming words, beginning and ending sounds, blending and segmenting one syllable words, manipulating words by adding, deleting or substituting sounds to make a new word -UFLI Lesson 17 and 18 that focus on b /b/ and e /e/ Next week in math... -Building numbers using math cubes, thinking about how to compose a larger number out of two smaller numbers -Exploring weight using pan balances -Counting by 10s to 100 -Practicing writing and identifying teen numbers Next week in writing... -We will work hard to finish our All About Me writing this week and publish our books, by making a cover and adding it to our writing portfolio. -We will begin list writing next. There are so many different things we can make a list for! We will start by making lists for the following: -People I know -Foods I like -Grocery list -Wish list Next week in social studies... We will continue our "Where am I?" social studies unit by learning about where we are, our community and starting to make maps. Until next week, Ms. Fata :)
